Door bouncer age range – is it okay for your kid’s age ?

One of my relatives was really confused about buying a door bouncer. She was worried if her little baby was too young for a door bouncer.

So I have gone through different websites of big sellers and manufacturers and tried to find out if any door bouncer is suitable for her child’s age. Here is what I have found.

If your child can hold his/her head upright and is at least 3 months old, then you will be able to find a door bouncer for him/her in the market. However, most of the door bouncers in the market are for at least 6 months old kids.

But note that, your child should be able to hold her head upright.

Here is a list of door bouncers according to the minimum age of the babies.

Minimum Age: 3 months

Graco Doorway Bumper Jumper

Baby Min weight : 5.5 lbs (Source: Amazon)

Baby Max weight: 25 lbs (Source: Amazon)

Minimum age is 3 months according to walmart.

This is a great product with tons of 5 star reviews on Amazon. However, according to some reviews I found some complaints about babies hitting their heads because of weak straps.

Jolly Jumper Exerciser with Door Clamp

According to the product description section of Amazon this can be used by 3 months old (only if baby can hold head up with full neck support).

Minimum Age: 4 months

Evenflo Exersaucer Door Jumper

Minimum age: 4 months (According to manufacturers website)

Maximum allowable baby weight: 24 lbs. which means around 1 year.

Minimum Age: 6 months

Bright Starts Bounce ‘N Spring Deluxe Door Jumper

Features age range of 6 to 12 months with infant age group according to Amazon product description.

This bouncer is very popular. There are tons of positive reviews for this bouncer. However, there are few negative reviews.

According to one customer, “the little cushion they provide really doesn’t do very much for support as the actual seat part quite big“.  Another customer said “The spring only actually allows for about 4 inches of bounce and there is no way of adjusting this“.

Bright Starts Disney Baby Door Jumper

Age: 6 to 12 months ( Source: Amazon – see the Manufacturer Section)

One of the shortcoming is the jumper does not have bumper guarders to keep the baby from bumping the wall. One of the Amazon customer complained that the jumper didn’t stay fastened to the door frame and the entire thing came crashing down onto the baby’s head!

Conclusion

Before buying a door bouncer be sure that the baby can hold his head upright and is at least 3 months old. Before buying check the maximum weight limit. This page of Amazon.com has a great list of door bouncer for babies with different ages.
